Patricia Hoyle

Certificate in Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language, University of NSW

Specialising in plain English, Patricia Hoyle has written and edited a wide range of government and corporate documents over the past 25 years including annual reports, plain English technical reports, fact sheets, policies and procedures, brochures, articles and websites. Patricia has also been a freelance editor for ABC Books and Sally Milner Publishing.

Through her customised and highly interactive workshops, Patricia has also helped thousands of managers and staff at all levels develop their writing skills and gain a better grasp of English grammar. She has also been a consultant trainer for WEA Sydney and Local Government and Shires Associations and a guest speaker at national conferences.

Director of Concise Writing Consultancy, which she established in 1994, Patricia has been four times nominated for the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Award (2009, 2012, 2017 and 2019).

Moira Elliott

Moira Elliott has been providing proofreading and editorial services to the government and corporate sectors for the past 25 years. Proofreading experience includes proofing The Institute of Chartered Accountants Sydney and New Zealand Financial Handbook and financial documents for Kalido, ING, BT and ANZ.

Part of the Concise Writing team since 2009, Moira has proofed websites, brochures, newsletters and annual reports for our corporate and government clients including Blacktown City Council, NSW Health, Legal Aid NSW, Westpac Bank, Rural Funds Management, Challenge Community Services and many more.

Moira is a freelance proofreader for HarperCollinsPublishers and has edited several books for the Tasmanian author, Lance Wilson. Moira has provided proofreading and editorial services to NCELTR Publishing at Macquarie University, New Frontier Publishing and Little Steps Publishing. She also
tutors children learning English as a second language at Reading Town Australia.

Lauren Finestone

Lauren Finestone has had extensive experience as a senior lawyer and manager in the private and public legal sectors and is a plain legal language editing and writing consultant. She was an Associate with Maurice Blackburn before working at the Australian Lawyers Alliance, the NSW Department of Justice and Legal Aid NSW.

Lauren is an expert in writing and translating complex legal, technical and other content into easy-to-read and accessible language for the legal and financial services industries. Materials include legislation, contracts and licence agreements, as well as compliance and product disclosure documents. Other communications include factsheets, internal communications, annual reports, online resources, corporate policies and client-facing publications. She also trains and coaches lawyers to write a range of legal documents in plain legal language.
